JL/JLU/JT Crawler Front Flare

The Crawler Front Flare is engineered to use factory mounting locations. Installation requires drilling out the existing factory hole locations and using nut inserts, which allows us to fit the flares as close to the factory location while adding clearance to the wheel opening. We test fitment on actual JL, JLU, and JT models throughout the design process, not just CAD models, ensuring precise alignment and proper panel gaps out of the box. Installation takes 2-3 hours with basic hand tools. You get professional-grade results without cutting body panels or fabrication work.

The Crawler Front Flare's clearance design accommodates 35, 37 and some 40-inch tires, depending on your wheel offset and suspension setup. The open design provides clearance suspension articulation without tire contact at full flex. For specific tire and wheel combinations, contact us with your exact setup and we can confirm fitment. Larger tires may want to check out our Ultimate Clearance Highline Crawler version they do require additional modifications such as trimming and a higher clearance inner liner.

The key difference is weight and placement. Steel flares add significant weight high and forward on your Jeep, which negatively impacts steering response, braking performance, and suspension articulation. Our aluminum construction delivers comparable strength for trail impacts while keeping your vehicle's handling characteristics intact. You get the tire clearance you need without the front-end weight penalty. Aluminum is also naturally corrosion-resistant and requires less maintenance than steel, which needs regular touch-ups to prevent rust.

Both powder coat options use Cardinal industrial coatings and are extremely durable. Semi-gloss black (BK-08) provides a sleek, low-sheen finish that matches most factory black trim pieces. Textured black (BK-59) offers a matte, slightly rough surface that hides minor scratches better and provides a more aggressive appearance. If you're leaving the flares bare aluminum, they'll develop a natural patina over time. All three finishes hold up well to trail abuse, UV exposure, and weather. Choose based on your preferred aesthetic — there's no performance difference.

Most Jeep owners with basic mechanical skills can install these flares in 2-3 hours using standard hand tools. No welding or fabrication is required. The bolt-on design eliminates the guesswork and some drilling is required but it's very simple. If you haven't already, check out a nut insert tool. These flares do not work with factory inner fender liners, but for maximum tire clearance and integrated protection, we recommend pairing them with Nemesis front inner fender liners. Our liners are designed to work as a unified system with the Crawler Front Flares, providing complete protection from mud, rocks, and debris while maintaining proper clearance for larger tires and full suspension travel. They will also work with a wide variety of other liners available within the industry.
