Closing the Gap Behind the Highline Flare

When we designed our Highline rear flares, we slimmed the flare base to open up the wheel well for builds running tires 40 inches and larger. That created another problem: trimming the body up to the new flare base left a gap above our standard Rear Inner Fender Liner. The flare and body opening had changed, but the liner still followed the original opening. We didn’t like leaving that gap, so we built a liner specifically for the Highline setup.

The Highline rear liner brings its upper lip farther up inside the wheel well, keeping it tucked behind the flare base after the body is trimmed. It finishes the opening the way we intended, rather than leaving the standard liner short of the flare. The flare, body trimming, and liner work together to achieve ultimate clearance.

Why This Liner Requires Body Modifications

Getting the liner higher in the wheel well means dealing with the sheet metal that occupies that space. Trimming the body or reshaping the sheet metal with an air hammer allows the upper lip to reach its intended position behind the Highline flare base. Without those modifications, the liner can’t sit where it needs to.

This setup is intended for builds running tires 40 inches and larger that need the additional opening available with our Highline rear flares. Our standard rear flares have a larger base plate that limits how far the opening can be cut. If you’re running Highline flares but aren’t planning to trim the body, you can still use our standard Rear Inner Fender Liners. Choose the liner around the body opening you intend to run—not just the name.

Installation also requires our Vapor Canister Relocation Bracket. If you haven’t already purchased it, select the full kit that includes the bracket.

Nemesis Signature TIG-Welded Construction

The Highline shape changes where the liner fits, not how we build it. Our signature TIG-welded construction starts with .090-inch aluminum, formed and welded into the liner’s main body. Instead of relying on rows of bolts to join those sections, we TIG weld them together. The result is a finished assembly with the fabrication on display—not a collection of panels you have to bolt together.

That same .090-inch aluminum also gives you a solid surface for mounting accessories such as shock reservoirs and rock lights. You can lay out those additions around your suspension and the space available inside the wheel well, choosing placement and mounting hardware to suit your build. The material serves both purposes: forming the liner itself and providing a useful foundation for the accessories you add.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

These liners are designed for Jeep Wrangler JL and JLU models with Nemesis Highline rear flares. Their higher upper lip fits behind the slimmer Highline flare base. They are not intended for factory flares or our standard rear flares.

Yes. The sheet metal must be trimmed or reshaped with an air hammer so the liner can sit higher inside the wheel well. The upper lip cannot reach its intended position behind the Highline flare base without those modifications. Installation also involves drilling and installing nutserts.

Yes. If you are running Highline rear flares but are not planning to trim the body, you can use our standard Rear Inner Fender Liners. Choose the liner around the body opening you intend to run, not just the flare name.

Yes. The vapor canister must be relocated to install these Highline rear liners. If you have not already purchased our Vapor Canister Relocation Bracket, choose Yes under Add Vapor Canister Relocation Bracket? to get the full kit.

They are intended for builds running tires 40 inches and larger that need the additional opening available with our Highline rear flares. The liner closes the gap behind the flare after the body opening is modified; it does not guarantee tire clearance on its own. Tire fitment depends on the rest of your build.

No. This is not the Highline coilover version. Do not select this liner as a substitute for the separate coilover application; contact us about the correct Highline liner for your suspension.

Our Nemesis Signature TIG-Welded Construction uses .090-inch aluminum for the formed and welded main body. The aluminum also provides a solid surface for accessories such as shock reservoirs and rock lights. Choose placement and mounting hardware for your suspension and available space; this is not a preconfigured accessory-mounting kit.

Plan for body-modification tools, a drill, a 9/32-inch drill bit, a W drill bit, and a nutsert installation tool with a 1/4-20 mandrel, along with basic hand tools. Review the installation instructions before starting so you have the tools needed for your Jeep and the required vapor-canister relocation.
